Delay Indicted. Frist Investigated. God in His Heaven.

It's been a bad day for the Banana Republicans. First, House Majority Leader Tom Delay was indicted. Then, the SEC announced it is launching a formal investigation into Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's insider trading scandal.

For today at least, God is in His Heaven and all is right with the world.

Let's start with Delay, the man who promised to bring a "biblical worldview" to government. Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle indicted the Hammer for TRMPAC's illegal use of corporate contributions. Delay, who compared himself to Jesus Christ, has stepped down from his leadership post. (For a complete collection of the essential Tom Delay scandal documents, visit the Perrspectives Document Library.)

In the Senate, Doctor Frist finds himself under the SEC's microscope for insider trading allegations involving stock in his supposed blind trust from health care giant (and Medicare fraud experts) HCA, the company which earlier acquired the Frist family business. Frist, who committed witness malpractice during the Terri Schiavo affair, clearly has some explaining to do.

On this glorious day, the Party of Lincoln would do well to heed the words of Honest Abe himself from his second inaugural address, "the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."
